MATERIALITY
The design of JUNTS is inspired of Castanets and Claves, two handheld instruments used in Flamenco and Cuban music. The round shapes fit comfortably into the hands of the user with a metal component sitting nicely between the fingers to hold the instrument in place. The metal component made of brass, resembling the bell of a trumpet is intended to amplify the sound in the other direction. The body of JUNTS is made of rosewood and is hollow with a sound hole in the middle of the top piece, resembling that of a guitar. When JUNTS is clapped together, the sound from the top round piece resonates through the body becoming amplified.
